Two-Year-Old Stallions draw a crowd on Fan Appreciation Night

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – The Monday and Tuesday night sessions of the Celebration have long been known as Dollar Nights, where tickets and select concessions are only $1. This Celebration continued the tradition. Temperatures dropped for what promised to be another cool night. Opening ceremonies commenced at exactly 7PM, when Mark Farrar announced White Diamond Dollar, bearing the flag with Vicki Self riding.

Ohtani knocks the Four-Year-Old Stallions class out of the ballpark

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – A new week opens at The Celebration. The day was full of events: the annual golf tournament in the morning, the annual Celebration Dog Show at noon and Faith and Family Night At The Celebration started at 5:30PM. After all the festivities were over, it was time for the main event of the night. Twelve classes were on the Sunday night program, and the opening ceremonies commenced at precisely 7PM.

Last morning session gives The Family Jewels his last victory ride

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – The Monday before Labor Day denotes the last of the morning sessions at the Celebration. This chilly Monday morning brought an array of classes, from Owner-Amateur Western Trail Pleasure to Owner-Amateur Five-Year-Old Country Pleasure, to Adult Equitation. The morning got underway with Travis Owlinger announcing the judges and ringmasters at precisely 9AM. After that, Cooper Steel Arena welcomed the first of 13 classes on the program.

Tony Edwards was raised in the heart of Tennessee Walking Horse country, splitting his early years between Lewisburg and Columbia. Like so many before him, the draw of the barn came early and never let go. In 1987, he took his first big step into the industry when he moved into the barn that trainer Jimmy Martin built in Cornersville, Tennessee.

Hat Night and aged stallion splits causes a commotion

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn.— The first Saturday night of The Celebration is the preliminary to the big stake night where the Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse of the world is crowned. The first Saturday night is the main qualifier to see who will show back for that special honor. In addition to this, the Lead Line World Grand Championship and the Yearling World Grand Championship usher in the first spotlight rides of The Celebration.

Wild West Night and the Three-Year-Old Stallion split delight spectators

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – It was horse show time once again in Shelbyville. The first Friday night of The Celebration always brings with it the first of the Fine Harness classes and the exciting split of the Three-Year-Old Stallions. Dubbed Wild West Night at The Celebration, the evening’s festivities began promptly at 7PM. Mark Farrar announced the flag bearer, White Diamond Dollar and Hall of Fame rider Vicki Self.

Obituary – John (Johnny) David Cook Jr.

John (Johnny) David Cook Jr., was on born October 7, 1960, and passed from this life on August 19, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Eloise Cook (Dudley), He is survived by one brother, Ronnie Cook (Sherri) of Tollsboro, KY, Uncle Jim Cook of Union, KY Uncle Richard Cook (Rita) of Union, KY, Uncle Neil Dudley of NC and several cousins.

One … Two … Three … Four trips to victory lane for Ally Jo Jacobs

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – Saturday Morning at the celebration opens the fourth day of showing, and italways denotes the youth pleasure and equitation classes. Starting promptly at 9AM, the 12 classes onthe program for the morning session got underway. Parents and coaches cheered on their youngcontenders from the warmup ring and the stands alike. Travis Owen announced the ringmasters, judgingpanel and ringmaster Charles Cush’s birthday. Then the gate opened for the first class of the day.

Celebration Feature: “Hello, Columbia!”

So often in the Tennessee Walking Horse industry — perhaps too often — we think about the term “horse shows” and put too much of our emphasis on the first word and not enough on the latter. Quite understandably, the focus is on the exhibitors and their entries, up to and including their lineage and results.
