Louise Glenn Nelms, a beloved Marshall county native, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on May 2, 2025. (She was a cancer survivor, although she would be quick to proudly report that was not the cause of death). Louise was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, aunt, friend and a faithful servant of the Lord. Known for her unwavering faith, warm heart and quick wit, she touched the lives of many.

Louise was born on August 23,1930, to her parents, Knox and Sadie Pickle Glenn in Belfast, Tennessee. She was the 4th of four children. She would proudly recall that she had 12 years of perfect attendance in school and 40+ years of perfect attendance in Sunday school.

She married the love of her life, Paul Nelms, in June 1950. They had no children but have nieces and nephews that extend for five generations. She always lived on the farm and was, truly, a farmer’s wife. Although she worked at Teledyne for 17 years, she maintained her farm duties. She worked side-by-side with her husband helping to breed mares and care for them and their foals, and tending to her goats. She retired from Teledyne to become a caregiver for her ill husband.

Louise was a loving and supportive presence in her family and community. She was a pillar of the Tennessee Walking Horse breed, and she and her husband were devoted Tennessee Walking Horse breeders. She deeply loved God, her family and friends. She was a long-standing, active member of Belfast Presbyterian Church and drew her strength from “truth and prayers.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Knox and Sadie Pickle Glenn, beloved spouse of 56 years, Paul Nelms, and siblings Sara Sweeney, J.W. Glenn and Harold Glenn. Louise is survived by her nephew, Clay Knox Glenn, nieces, Cecilia Sands, Glenda Jacobs and Becky Nelms. She leaves behind a host of beloved great nieces, great nephews and special friends.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at London Funeral Home, 324 W. Church Street, Lewisburg, Tennessee, on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 2:00 pm. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Burial at Old Orchard Cemetery in Petersburg, Tennessee, to follow.

Pallbearers include Clay Knox Glenn, Robert Nelms, Jesse Nelms, Riley Nelms, Nathan Johnson and William Hobby. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Randy Baker, Grady Osborne, Sammy Woodward, Dr. George Wright, Charlie Roberts, Buddy Willis and James Estes.

Per Louise’s request, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice, although Belfast Presbyterian Church and the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association held a special place in her heart.

London Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
