The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ & Exhibitors’ Association (TWHBEA) is proud to announce the launch of the Equestrian Star Program, a new initiative designed to recognize and celebrate the rising stars of the Tennessee Walking Horse industry. This exciting program aims to honor young equestrians in grades 6-12 who demonstrate exceptional dedication, talent, and achievement in horsemanship, competition, and other industry milestones.
The Equestrian Star Program invites youth who are passionate about the Tennessee Walking Horse breed to be recognized for their hard work and accomplishments. Eligible participants must meet specific requirements between January 1 and December 31 of the program year. Submissions for recognition are due by February 28 for the previous year's achievements, and successful applicants will be awarded a lapel pin and certificate, presented during their school’s Awards or Honors Day.
"We understand the significant time commitment involved in equestrian activities, and we want to ensure that these dedicated young athletes are acknowledged in the same way as their peers who excel in other sports and extracurricular activities," said Nicole Tolle, TWHBEA Youth Vice-President. "The Equestrian Star Program celebrates the perseverance and passion of our youth while motivating them to keep striving for excellence in all areas of their equestrian journey."
Application Requirements for the program include:
• TWHYA Membership: Must be a current member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Youth Association (TWHYA).
• Achievement Requirement: Complete at least one of the following:
o Log 100+ hours of riding a registered Tennessee Walking Horse (max 5 hours per day).
o Compete in at least three approved events (e.g., TWHBEA shows, 4-H, FFA, Pony Club).
o Provide proof of achieving an industry title (e.g., World Champion, Youth Supreme Versatility Champion, or High Point Overall Youth Champion).
• School Contact Info: Submit school details, including Awards/Honors Day date (if known).
The Equestrian Star Program is a valuable opportunity for youth to further develop their passion for Tennessee Walking Horses while fostering a culture of commitment, achievement, and sportsmanship. It aims to inspire the next generation of equestrians to pursue their dreams and take pride in their involvement with the Tennessee Walking Horse industry.
