Obituary – Suzanne McGee
Tuesday, August 27, 2024
Suzanne was born June 10, 1946 in Lincoln County, Tennessee to the late Eugene Cunningham and Martha Francis Wilson Cunningham. She grew up on a farm in Cyruston where she and her late brother Doug Cunningham would milk cows and help with the family farm.
After attending one year of college she began her career as a secretary for a local attorney in Fayetteville. Later she became the secretary for the University of Tennessee Extension Office in Fayetteville where she retired after 38 and 1/2 years of service. Suzanne, also known as Mimi, enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, and watching the sunset off of her front porch. She loved animals and often would take in a stray.
Suzanne's faith played a major role in how she raised her family and treated others in her life. She was a member of the Booneville Church of Christ. She loved her family and often made sacrifices for them. She valued and taught by example what it means to "love one another " and to "love your neighbor". She became a mother and grandmother figure to anyone who stepped through her door.
Suzanne passed away August 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family and Chester her devoted cat.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Doug Cunningham. Survivors include her husband of 50 years: Joe Wayne McGee; children: Gina (Scotty) Vaughn, Karen McGee, Brent (Jennifer) McGee; grandchildren: Hayley McGee, Emileigh Vaughn, Madelyn Vaughn, Katherine Vaughn, Brody McGee, Aubrey McGee, Cole McGee all of Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Booneville Church of Christ in care of Wayne Harper 672 Petty Hollow Road Fayetteville Tennessee 37334, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
