NCWHA awards scholarships
Monday, October 14, 2024
The NCWHA, along with the Culbreth and Mosley families, support the youth of our industry through our annual scholarship program. This year, the NCWHA is happy to announce the distribution of four scholarships to very deserving youth.
The Lynn Culbreth Memorial Scholarship, given by the Michael Culbreth family, is being awarded to Emma Wood. Emma, like Lynn Culbreth and her favorite, mare; Jay’s Velvet Shadow, participates in the pleasure divisions. She will be pursuing a degree in Early Elementary Education at Liberty University and enjoys teaching riding and sharing her love of the Tennessee Walking Horse with other adults and young people.
The NCWHA/Ronald Mosley Memorial Scholarship is being awarded to Carson Adams. Carson is a frequent exhibitor on the NCWHA circuit and works actively at the family business caring for horses. Currently a junior at Mt. Olive University, Carson is pursuing a degree in Agribusiness. It is Carson’s passion to continue the legacy of the Tennessee Walking Horse industry following both his grandfather and his father in support of the breed.
Through the generosity of our members and donors to the scholarship program, the NCWHA is awarding two additional scholarships from our scholarship fund.
Gracie Mourglea can be found participating in both the pleasure and the performance divisions on the NCWHA circuit with Abee Stables. Gracie is attending St. Andrews University and pursuing a degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Equine Business. Gracie’s passion is to work with large animals, especially in the equine area.
Claudia Gribble is attending the University of Mississippi pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Multi-Disciplinary Studies. Employed full-time in her family’s business, Abernathy Stables, Claudia is responsible for caring for horses and gives riding lessons in her spare time. Claudia credits the Tennessee Walking Horse industry for an extended family and their positive influence on her life.
The NCWHA and the Culbreth and Mosley Families wish each of these students success on their academic journeys.
