The Walking Horse Report has recently learned of the passing of 2xWGC & 3xWC Trip My Trigger at the age of 33 on January 19, 2025.
Sired by One Golden Moment and out of a mare named A Gen & Tonic. Trip My Trigger was bred and raised by Harold Brown of Fort Worth, Texas, and was previously known as Stardust’s Diamond. Being a palomino in the ninety’s was certainly a different sight to see in the ring. During his two-year-old season he was shown open and amateur and collected five blues. He also caught the attention of Jo Ann Dowell and was purchased for Sue Ann Dowell to campaign in the Three-Year-Old Amateur division. With his striking color and flashy way of going, Trip My Trigger was an immediate crowd favorite.
Under the direction of Billy and Tim Gray and Sand Creek Farm, the duo of Sue Ann Dowell and Trip My Trigger won an impressive 14 times during their four year run together. In 1995 the pair won the O/A Three-Year-Old Stallions World Championship as well as the O/A Three-Year-Old World Grand Championship. Again in 1996, they returned to the ring to defend their title in the O/A Four-Year-Old Stallions World Championship. In 1997 they advanced to the Amateur division winning the O/A Stallions and the O/A World Grand Championship.
After his wins in 1997, Trip My Trigger and Sue Ann showed again in 1998, but only a few times before the decision was made to retire him to the breeding farm. Fantasy Farm and Beverly Burgess would be the new home for Trigger where he would be loved and cared for until his recent passing.
Our condolences go out to Sue Ann Dowell, Beverly Burgess, Dr. Krista Gillam and anyone who had the privilege to work and know this horse with so much excitement and personality.
