It is with great sadness that we share the news of the loss of Five Time World Grand Champion A Bruce Pearl. To be referred to as a “Great Horse” is somewhat an understatement for A Bruce Pearl.

Foaled June 29th, 2007, and sired by the 1999 World Champion Stallion and Reserve World Grand Champion of 1999 Generator’s Champion and out of top show horse producing mare Wired In Time, Bruce was bred and raised by Dennis and Sunny Bunch of Tazewell, Tennessee. The Bunch’s are huge Tennessee Volunteer fans and Bruce was named after the current Vols head Basketball Coach at the time of his foaling.

Bruce developed a following fast as he went under saddle. He was started by Justin Jenne’, who was also the first person to ever show him and he caught the eye of trainer Jimmy McConnell in the Fall of 2009. Bruce was purchased by Lee and Mike McGartland of Ft. Worth Texas, shortly after for a new show horse for Lee. Under the guidance of Jimmy McConnell and the Formac banner, Bruce became an upper echelon show horse winning at every major show case with highlights becoming Two Time Reserve World Champion at three, World and Reserve World Champion at four, World and World Grand Champion at six and repeating as Amateur World Grand Champion at seven.

In February of 2015, Bruce was purchased by Lisa Baum and put under the direction of Callaway Stables and John Allan Callaway. He continued his winning ways by retaining his title as Amateur World Grand Champion in 2015, 2016 and 2017 with Lisa Baum aboard. A Bruce Pearl has been one of if not the most dominant Amateur Stallions of all time. Bruce’s unsurpassed show ring career spanned over a decade with remarkable 69 show ring appearances, and becoming Champion or Reserve Champion on 60 occasions.

On behalf of the Baum’s we thank the many that have offered their condolences on the loss of Bruce.
