Paula Meagher Sensing was born on March 16, 1940, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2026.

In Heaven, she was joyfully reunited with her parents, James and Eloise Meagher, and her beloved daughter, Gwynne Sensing Morris. Paula was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of James and Eloise Meagher.

Paula attended Training School on the campus of Memphis State College (now the University of Memphis) and later graduated from Germantown High School in 1958.

While attending Germantown High School, Paula met the love of her life, Bill Sensing, in the tenth grade. Their love story began there and continued for more than 65 years of marriage. Bill often said he knew he would marry Paula the first time he saw her walk through the doors of Germantown High School—and that is exactly what he did. Together they built a life filled with love, faith, family, and adventure. They made their home in Germantown, Tennessee, for many years and most recently resided on their 100-acre farm near Whiteville, Tennessee.

Following graduation, Paula earned two Master’s degrees in Education from Memphis State University. She was also a proud member of the Alpha Delta Pi (ADPi) sorority.

Paula was a devoted mother to her daughters, Gwynne Sensing Morris (Greg Morris) and Shannon Sensing Cotter (Ed Cotter). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Clayton Morris (Emily Morris) of South Fulton, Tennessee, and John Michael Morris (Libby Morris) of Humboldt, Tennessee. Her grandsons were among the greatest joys of her life. She was also blessed to be the great-grandmother of Teagan Morris, Evelyn Morris, and Granger Morris, all of whom she cherished deeply.

For more than 35 years, Paula dedicated her life to education through Memphis City Schools. She loved teaching children and carried that passion throughout her life. Whether teaching in the classroom, leading Vacation Bible School, working with the Girl Scouts, or mentoring young people in her community, Paula generously gave of herself and positively impacted countless lives.

Paula was an accomplished equestrian, earning both World Champion and World Grand Champion titles. Throughout her horse-show career, she received numerous awards and accolades, including being named Sportsman of the Year by the Mid-South Horse Show Association.

A faithful servant of the Lord, Paula was an active member for many years at Germantown Baptist Church. Currently a member of First Baptist Church Grand Junction. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, participated in Vacation Bible School, and faithfully served her church family for many years.

Above all, Paula loved the Lord. Her faith and her family were the foundation of her life.

Paula loved the Lord. Her faith and family were the center of her life.  Paula would quote James 1:5 to Shannon [ If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God…and it shall be given him.} Paula was a proud southern lady that used God’s light to share the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to many. She was a humble servant of the Lord. She lived each day in the Lord’s Power.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, service, and grace that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
