James Wallace Brandon, Jr., age 74, fondly known as “Jim,” passed away on May 12, 2026, at his residence in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
Jim was born on November 26, 1951, to James Wallace Brandon and Geneva Finley Linam. He was a 1970 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University.
Jim was passionate about life and a steadfast devotion to his relationship with Christ. He loved his walking horses, his Texas longhorns, and always dressed to impress. Jim also had an extraordinary way of making ordinary moments feel memorable. More than anything, people will remember him for his stories. Jim was a great storyteller, the kind of person who could hold a room, make people laugh, and turn a simple memory into something everyone was eager to hear.
One of Jim’s greatest passions was walking horses. He grew up around them, and in many ways, they were simply part of who he was as a person. Over the years, the horse shows became a place where Jim formed some of his closest and most meaningful friendships. Jim especially enjoyed attending the Celebration each year, where he spent time with family, reconnected with friends, and proudly honored his father’s legacy by presenting the Wallace Brandon Memorial Trophy.
Above all, Jim was a proud father to his son, Justin. Jim treasured their bond and the many memories they shared, from rounds of golf to everyday conversations, and time spent simply being together. One of Jim's greatest joys is when Justin became a father himself, making him a grandfather to his beloved granddaughter, Emma. Jim loved her deeply and was so proud and excited to hold the title of “Grandpa B."
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Constance Lee Brandon, his twin sister Janice Brandon Huffman, his sister Debora Brandon Harris, and step-sister Allison English.
Jim is survived by his son Justin (Kate) Brandon and his granddaughter Emma Brandon. He is also survived by Pamela McClanahan his former wife and Justin’s mother; his step-mother Laura Brandon; step-brother Robert English; brother in laws Richard Harris and Josh (Jane) Huffman; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Shelly (Robert) Bryan, Kelly (Brandon) Bass, Cody-Dale (Michael) Claridy, Ashley (Corey) Hawkins, Brandon (Brittany) Huffman, and Taylor (Aaron) Walker and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
His family finds peace and comfort knowing he is in his Savior’s arms and is reunited with his wife, beloved sisters, and parents whom he missed deeply. Jim leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, stories, and memories that will continue to live on through everyone who knew him.
One of Jim's favorite places was the Harris Family Farm in Lebanon, Tennessee. It was there he spent countless evenings reminiscing of old times surrounded by those he loved. It was his wish to be laid to rest there beside his sister, Debby. A celebration of life and interment will be held amongst family and friends on May 30th at 2:00 P.M. on the Harris Family Farm.
