Dorothy Jean Simmons Kyle was born on November 2, 1937, to the late Hughie and Frances Simmons and was raised in Olive Hill, Tennessee. In 1954, she married Bobby Gene Beckham, and together they raised their daughters in Clifton, Tennessee, where Dorothy worked as a supervisor for Clifton Manufacturing Company. In 1988, she married James Paul Kyle, and the two shared many happy years together until his passing in 2006. Following her retirement, Dorothy spent the remainder of her years in Savannah, Tennessee.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the beach. She loved shopping and treasured spending time with family and friends. A talented seamstress, she found great joy in sewing for members of her community. She was also a devoted fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Big Orange.

Most importantly, Dorothy loved the Lord and lived her life firmly grounded in her faith. Her love for God was reflected in the kindness, compassion and unwavering love she showed to everyone around her. She treasured her family above all else and found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories they will cherish forever.

Known for her warm heart and welcoming spirit, Dorothy was affectionately known by many—not just her own family—as "GrandMother," a name that reflected the love, comfort and wisdom she shared with all whose lives she touched.
