Equine Obituary – Major’s Magic Horizon
Wednesday, October 8, 2025

We announce the passing of Major’s Magic Horizon on October 1st, 2025 after a short illness. Sired by Gen’s Major General and out of an Impressive Sun Rise mare, he was born on April 11th, 1998 and affectionately known as Roger. Bred by Linda Patterson of Watertown, TN, Roger was shown extensively throughout his life in both amateur, open, and juvenile ranks. In 2009, after seeing Drew Graves show him in a stake class, he was purchased by Rod & Teresa Slagle to be teamed in the Youth Ponies division with their daughter Cassi Slagle. This proved to be a very successful and special pairing in the years to come. In 2009, Roger was the very first horse Cassi showed at the Celebration. For 12 years, Roger and Cassi entered the show ring together countless times and culminated their show career together in the 2021 O/A Classic Horse class at that year’s Celebration. He was 23 years old and as feisty as ever!
To anyone that met him, Roger left an impression. He was full of personality, talent, and a competitive heart- when he entered the ring, he was all business. A true ambassador for the breed, many individuals took their first ride on a padded walking horse about him. Roger will be greatly missed by the Slagle family and they thank everyone for their kind comments regarding his passing.
